Myrtle Beach Camping: Essentials for Camping with Your Dog

Bringing our furry friends along is one of the best parts of RV life. Here are a few tips to help keep your dog safe and happy while at camping at a Myrtle Beach campground.

• Take your fur baby to the campground onsite dog park every day! They will love it and you’ll get to spend some quality time together with the leash off.
• Bring your dog’s favorite toys. This helps them feel less anxious when away from their normal home. Do they have a favorite blanket? Bring that too.
• Remember the brush!
• Pack your dog’s favorite treats.
• Daily walks on the beach will become your dog’s favorite part of the day! Just remember to keep Fido on a leash. Here are the current rules for our local beaches:
  MYRTLE BEACH: From May 1 to Labor Day dogs are allowed before 10 AM and after 5 PM. The rest of the year they can be on the beach any time. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  NORTH MYRTLE BEACH: From May 15 to Sep 15 dogs are allowed on the beach before 9 AM and after 5 PM. The rest of the year they can be on the beach any time. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  SURFSIDE BEACH: From May 15 to Sep 15 dogs are NOT allowed on the beach at any time. The rest of the year they can be on the beach any time. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
• Keep them hydrated. If you are thirsty your dog is thirsty.
• Keep them comfortable. In the summer months it is easy for a dog to overheat. In the winter months, they can get cold just like you do. As a rule of thumb – if you are hot they are hot – if you are cold they are cold. Providing lots of shade and water helps in the warmer months and access to a warm bed and even a coat will help them through the winter months.
• A sunset walk around our campground pond is both relaxing and rewarding for your dog.
• Does your dog like the water? Our intracoastal waterway beach is a fun place for your dog to get wet.
